Report:  Report on CoP-24 Participation

Duration: 01 to 15 December, 2018

Place: Katowice in Poland.

The 24th CoP (Conference of the Parties) is held in Katowice in Poland with participation of around 195 countries and their representatives from government official, climate scientist, civil society and development activist and campaigners. I have also participated in this two week long global event since 1-15 December. The CoP mainly facilitated the discourse on the implementation of Paris Agreement especially (globally agreed document in 2015 in CoP-21 climate change conference) reducing global warming and fighting climate change impacts. Report: Report on Participation in APRRN 7th Asia Pacific Consultation on Refugee Rights (APCRR7).

Place: Bangkok, Thailand.

It was a great opportunity to be able to participate in the APRRN’s 7th Asia Pacific Consultation on Refugee Rights (APCRR7) held in Bangkok, Thailand during 21 to 25 October 2018. COAST is a member of APRRN and that’s why we participate in it. Report: Report on IMF workshop with CSOs Workshop held in 19-20 June’18 in Manila.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is committed to being transparent about its work, to explaining itself, and to listening to the people whom are affects, and it engages with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Parliamentarians, Think-Tanks and Youth Leaders through information sharing, dialogue, and consultation at both the global and national level. Apart IMF recently has published it quarterly economic review report on Asia-Pacific region that will be shared in the workshop is one of the objectives.

Following the above objectives, on 19-20 June’ 2018, the IMF has organized a workshop in Manila with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Topics discussed included revenue mobilization, corruption and inequality. The workshop was held prior to the World Bank-IMF annual conference that will be held in Bali, Indonesia in October 2018.

The workshop was attended by 15 Civil Society Representatives from Bangladesh (01), Nepal (01), Indonesia (02), Cambodia (01) and Philippine (06 representatives from different regional NGOs). There are three representatives of IMF (Bangladesh, Philippine and IMF head office) also participated and shared their respective country performance in the workshop.

The workshop focused on strengthening CSOs understanding of IMF work on governance, inequality, revenue mobilization, debt, social protection and anti-corruption climate change and hearing their views and recommendations for the IMF on these important issues.[Click here full report]

CSO Positioning on Bangladesh VNR on SDGs in UN HLPF 2017

Govt. of Bangladesh is going to present Voluntary National Review (VNR) on SDGs in UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) during 10 to 19th July in NY. On the eve of VNR HLPF, 22 farmers, labors, right based civil society organizations and networks have prepared Bangladeshi CSOs positioning on VNR report that already submitted bu GoB to UN HLPF. The positions of CSOs are titled as ” Inequality is priority to act immediately ; Global community must endorse its obligation of global partnership to assist countries fighting poverty, inequality and climate change.”
