Climate Change Talks in Copenhagen and EquityBD participation

The world leaders from 192 countries have meet in Copenhagen, Denmark, from December 7 to 18, to negotiate an agreement at the COP 15 of the UNFCCC to keep global temperatures below catastrophic levels. This level will be congruence with commitment to reduce 40 percent carbon emission by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050 and keep the rise of world temperature within 2 degree Celsius.

Addressing the summit thousand of CSO's (Civil Society Organization), activists and individuals across the globe have participated to draw the attention in favor of poor and developing countries notions towards a sustainable coping of Climate Change impacts.

EquityBD (Equity and Justice Working Group Bangladesh) a part of global CSO have also participated and introduc the following events in Copenhagen in favor of Bangladesh to draw the global community attention;

1. EquityBd will Organized seminar seminar jointly with Klimaforum09
EquityBD will facilitate a seminar in Klimaforum09 titled “Climate Induced Migrants: Need to new UN Protocol as Universal Natural Person” with the assistance of international CSO's like SAPPE, LDC Watch, L’Observatoire and CSRL. The seminar will mainly focus on creating a new protocol for migrant or displaced people those would be created due to Climate Change.

2. Seminar with LDC Watch
EquityBD will participate in an international seminar with LDC (Least Developing Countries) Watch titled “Civil Society Position of LDCs” On 14th December. This seminar will facilitate detail discourse on the climate change impact on the developing countries and claim their position with demand.

3.   “Photo Exhibition on Impact of Climate Change in Bangladesh " 9-16th December
EquityBd has introduced a photo exhibition title “ Bangladesh : The Ground Zero of Climate Change” that was held at 11 am, Wednesday,  9th and will continue up to 16th December 2009, at Purple Hall 1,  DGI Byen, Kodybyan, near Central Station, Copenhagen, Denmark. This event is organized with the association of CSRL and Saptahik. This exhibition will expose the scenario of the impact of climate change and adaptation activities in Bangladesh
