| Civil society envisions political leadership to make SAARC pro-people Peoples' SAARC Bangladesh National Committee, a coalition of right groups, called the
 governments of the South Asian countries to bring-out SAARC from the corridor of bureaucracy and make the SAARC effective in fostering welfare of the common people of SAARC countries. This coalition, in a seminar on 19 April 2010 in Dhaka, also urged the South Asian Governments to promote people-to-people contact on a larger scale through developing South Asia a ‘visa-free' region. Dr. Rashid E Mahbub, Chairperson of Peoples’ SAARC Bangladesh National Committee chaired the seminar while Rokeya Kabir moderated the seminar. Among others, Mr. M.A Mannan, former State Minster and BNP lawmaker, Shawkat Momen Shahjahan MP, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry, KM Jahnagir, former State Minster and Awami League lawmaker spoke in the seminar. Cultural program at Dhaka University campus On 18 April 2010 People’s SAARC Bangladesh National Committee organized a cultural program at Dhaka University Campus. The organizers of the cultural program emphasized that in the face of the failure of the SAARC process closer social, economic and cultural ties are the one and only hope to reinforce the regional cooperation integrated with peace, harmony and well-being of the South Asian nations.

SAARC agriculture perspective 2020: Require a participatory road map
Peoples' SAARC Bangladesh National Committee announced their three-day campaign programs in a press conference on 17 April 2010 at Dhaka Reporters Unity. To raise civil society voices in the 16th SAARC Summit, this committee announced their three-day program that includes seminar, demonstration, cultural program etc. They also criticized SAARC as it has failed to respond the aspirations of the common people in the South Asian countries. The press conference was chaired and moderated respectively by Dr. Rashid E Mahbub and Rokeya Kabir while Rezaul Karim Chowdhury read-out the written press statement. Among others, Mohiuddin Ahmed spoke before the media people.
